The following steps have been developed to assist students in the Thesis/Project process.
- The honors student should identify a faculty member whose area of expertise/research is of interest to the honors student.
- The student should meet with the potential faculty member and discuss their willingness to become his/her honors faculty mentor.
- The student should take HNED3001H during the junior semester under the direction of the faculty mentor. During this time, formulation of the Thesis/Project idea is developed and explored. Preparation of the Thesis/Project proposal, completion of the Thesis/Project Proposal Approval Form, and selection of your committee should be outcomes of this course. One copy of the Thesis/Project proposal form should be submitted to the Office of the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.
Thesis Proposal Deadline Dates for 2009 Graduates:
- March 14, 2008, for Spring and Summer 2009 graduation
- Nov. 14, 2008, for December 2009 graduation
- Composition of the Honors Thesis/Project Committee includes the following:
- The Faculty Mentor
- An Honors Council Member
- One additional faculty member
Note: The Faculty Mentor must approve changes in committee members with notification sent to the Honors Council.
- HNED4003H - Completion of the Thesis/Project.
- The completed thesis/project is submitted to the Thesis/Project Committee within a minimum of two weeks prior to the end of the semester. The Honors Student should schedule a committee meeting for approval of the Thesis/Project.
- The written Thesis/Project Approval Form and one copy of the complete thesis/project are to be turned in to the Honors Council no later than the last day of classes. Honors students will not be cleared for honors graduation until this documentation is submitted.
